School main directions in 2024/2025
The complete transition to Estonian-language-based education in basic school and the direction to it in secondary school means that the focus of the school's activities is on supporting students' learning in a second language and improving teachers' teaching techniques in a second language and their Estonian language skills. To develop the subject, language and study skills in an integrated manner and to promote the smooth cooperation of a multi-ethnic and multilingual school, we pay more attention to the following topics and initiatives:
- Supporting students in their development into self-regulated learners: cooperation circles for the development of learning skills of teachers and students, trainings, continuation of the Knowledge School program (Teadmuskooli programm) and other activities.
- Creation and testing of the project-based learning system: Digital and Distance Learning Day programs and their testing.
- Implementation of the value education action plan: conscious action for the development of the sense of belonging at school, attention to the culture of behaviour and studying the aspects of students' satisfaction with the school.
- Improving the quality of information flow: agreements on information transmission and reception, finding comfortable environments for teachers to mediate information within the school.
Key words for the academic year 2024/2025
· The entire basic school is taught in Estonian. Exceptions are SEN classes and students with a migrant background, for whom individual curriculum still applies. All Ukrainian students who arrived in 2022 will exit immigrant status this year, depending on when they arrived. They need to be included into Estonian language learning even more purposefully than before.
· All teachers who do not teach English or Russian work in Estonian, finding suitable methods so that students with different language levels can participate in studies.
Our projects and programms for the academic year 2024/2025
